Financial Assistance

Teaching and research assistantships are available on a competitive basis in the Department of Electrical Engineering. Annual stipends range from $10,500 to $19,500. Teaching assistants usually supervise undergraduate labs, while research assistants perform research applicable to their theses and dissertations. Half-time graduate assistants (20 hours/week) receive a waiver of all tuition while graduate assistants hired for less than half time (10-20 hours/week) pay 50% of resident tuition. There are no application forms for TA or RA positions.

Graduate assistantships within the department are highly competitive and typically result from interaction with individual faculty members. Electrical Engineering students should plan to support themselves totally for the first year. After the first year the chances for financial assistance are greatly improved.

In addition, the Engineering Internship Program provides exceptional graduate students with internships, which provide part-time work experience in local industry. Internships in industry may also be incorporated into the graduate program through Internship (EEE 684).

Current tuition and fee rates are available online. Application forms for assistantships, scholarships, and fellowships are available from and should be submitted to the Department of Electrical Engineering. Loans and work-study support are available through the Student Financial Assistance Office and require filing a FAFSA form.
