MSE Program (online forms)
The MSE is a professional degree that requires 10 classes of course work (30 hours minimum), without a thesis, but with a final comprehensive exam. Courses are available in both on-campus and online formats.
The Ira A. Fulton School of Engineering also offers an Interdisciplinary MSE with Specialty in Semiconductor Processing and Manufacturing through its online program.
MSE students have the following requirements:
A final comprehensive exam in the area of specialization completes the MSE requirements.
Most master's students will be admitted as MSE candidates, and only those candidates who receive financial support or who show research potential will be admitted to the MS program. However, students who want to pursue the MS may seek out a faculty member in their areas of interest to act as their advisor. With the advisor's approval, the student may then switch from the MSE to the MS program.
Students may obtain the MSE by taking all classes on the Internet. Classes given live on campus are digitized and streamed for viewing anywhere an Internet connection is available. The classes are the same as those taken by the on-campus students. Normally a lecture is ready for viewing within a few hours after the live presentation.
A comprehensive exam is required as a culminating event after the completion of all course work.
The Ira A. Fulton School of Engineering Center for Professional Development (CPD) administers the distance program. A three-year plan is published on the department's web pages indicating the planned Internet classes for the following three years.
