Colleagues, Friends and Visitors:
I am proud to serve as chair of the ASU Department of Electrical Engineering. The core of our department, its faculty, students and staff, continue to produce a steady stream of remarkable accomplishments. A recent national ranking of 26 (US News & World Report ranking of EE graduate programs) recognizes our achievements.
The dynamic leadership team at ASU, from President Michael Crow to Provost Elizabeth Capaldi to Fulton School of Engineering Dean, Deirdre Meldrum, is moving the university forward at a rapid pace. Electrical Engineering is aggressively leading initiatives in teaching and research in EE, across disciplines and across institutions to leverage these changes.
Major research initiatives with EE faculty leadership and involvement include the
the Flexible Display Center ,
the Arts, Media and Engineering program,
both the Center for Applied NanoBioscience in the Biodesign Institute,
the Center for Solid State Electronics Research and the newly created Arizona Institute for NanoElectronics,
the Wireless Integrated Nanotechnology and Connection One centers and
the promotion of ASU’s programs in China.
Our continued ability to recruit top researchers, teachers and students, to introduce new research developments, and to develop collaborative relationships and solutions are critical components of our strategy to build on our already outstanding research and academic programs.
